Bride Tip • How To Guarantee Your Winter Pictures Look Cozy & Elegant

There are challenges in every season for photographers, but for Brides and Grooms, Pictures in below freezing temperatures surrounded by swirling snow are the hardest. They can also be some of the most breathtaking pictures of the year! So how can you guarantee that your winter pictures look cozy & elegant? Here’s 4 quick tips for you to keep in mind:

1. Add the POP of color!

With all of the white in your background, a little variation in the colors really helps add dimension and character to your pictures. Nothing says happy couple like some fun pops in the bouquet, ties, or accessories! The number one rule here is to be YOU. When your grandchildren look at your bridal pictures, you want them to get to know you better. Have fun!

2. FOOTPRINTS👣

With fresh fallen snow, it is important to remember that you will be leaving footprints! Ask your photographer where you will be standing in the pictures so you and your groom can be careful where you step. Too many footprints in the snow can mat it down and if we are going for a freshly fallen look this can really hurt the pictures!

3. Stay Warm!!!

This is the MOST IMPORTANT TIP. I cannot stress it enough. It is going to be COLD. That snow has a way of getting between every toe and fluttering all over both of us! Be prepared for this. Bring your coat and gloves. And underneath your dress PLEASE wear leggings, thermals, wool socks, and/or boots. If it gets too toasty, stripping layers is easy. But without these essential items you will freeze! Some brides have even come prepared with HotHands hand warmers and thermoses full of Hot Chocolate. Whatever you can think of to stay warm… DO IT!

In between photo backgrounds and whenever we need to take a break, we will make sure to warm up. This will ensure genuine smiles and warm cheeks. You will not regret preparing for the cold temps!

To really make it feel like winter, some of my brides have even worn some beautiful faux fur winter wraps. Not only do they look elegant, but they really bring the season into the shots!

Last but not least …

Make sure you snuggle up close to your love!!! To keep warm, of course. Among other reasons. (;

You’ll have fun! This day will only come once. Regardless of temperatures or weather, this is going to be a day to remember. These are photos that you will have hanging in your home for the rest of your life. Fresh snow sessions are gorgeous. Trust us professional photographers to make everything look stunning and just focus on you and your handsome groom!
