How to Highlight and Contour like a Pro…but Faster

You may be wondering…what does it even mean to highlight and contour? Yeah, that was me a few years ago. As long as I can remember I put on my one shade of foundation and left the house looking like a pale ghost. My mom always suggested blush or lip stick for heaven sakes, but I insisted on the one color face. That was until I got in the wedding industry with professional make up artists and gorgeous clients.

How to Highlight and Contour like a Pro...but Faster

I learned that with a shade lighter and a shade darker you can literally sculpt your face into anything. I learned how to highlight and contour a more traditional way with layers and layers and lots of different products. The only problem was it took a lot of time! As a busy mom and business owner I didn’t have time for that. THEN magic happened. I learned about Maskcara’s iiid foundation where you put the product where it goes on the first layer instead of stacking them all up. I can highlight and contour my face in FIVE minutes every single day with only one compact and one brush. Life changing.

HOW TO HIGHLIGHT AND CONTOUR

Highlight

This color should be lighter than your natural skin tone. The yellow turns creamy on the skin and gives you a “lit from within” glow! With the small end of the hac brush apply this shade to the bridge of the nose, beneath your eyes and down the side of the nose in a pie piece shape, between your brows, on the chin and along the jawline.

Contour

This color should be deeper than your natural skin tone. It creates and accentuates the “shadows” on your face, giving dimension and a gorgeous sculpt to your face! Using the large end of the HAC brush apply the contour color round the edges of your face, down the neck, the side of your nose and beneath your cheekbones.

Lip + Cheek

This rosy tone brings out your eyes, makes the face appear more youthful and warms your complexion. Apply this with a brush, sponge or fingertip to the apples of your cheeks and to the center of your lips.

Illuminator

Finish everything with this gorgeous shimmery cream! It gives the face a candlelit dewiness and perfects your complexion. Apply with fingertip to the top of your cheekbones, the bow of your lip and beneath the arch of your brow.
