My Birthday Buddy
I’m not a mom yet, so I can honestly say that nothing brings me more joy than being an Auntie. My sweet nieces and nephews call me Aunt Guppy, and it’s my favorite title. I live for the times I get to spend with these precious kiddos. We have been waiting for precious baby Maelie Elise for so long. From the moment I knew she was due in June, I was hoping she’d be born on my birthday (June 7th), but my hopes weren’t too high since her due date wasn’t until the 13th. Lauren started having signs that she was in labor a week ago, so then I thought she’d come super early and miss by birthday by a day or two. Turns out Maelie wanted to celebrate with Guppy. Yesterday, I received the greatest gift of all when I got to see the newest addition to my family, miss Maelie Elise, in the arms of my beautiful sister.
(Kylee has this great idea that since she was born on MY birthday, we should rename her Maelie Kay, after my middle name Brooklyn Kay. Unfortunately Lauren doesn’t think it’s such a great idea. What do you think? Is it too late to change the birth certificate?)
My Sister’s Birth Story
“I went into my 39 week appt and was dilated to a 5, 100% effaced. And I was just like dr. I’m ready
😫 he sent me upstairs.
We got checked in at 10:30. By 11:30 I had a bag of fluids and an epidural. He then broke my water and started me on pit. Then said, I should have my baby by 4:47pm.
Well around one I went from a 7 to a 9 in five minutes then two minutes later complete. Homegirl wasn’t messing around.
Even though I had the epidural I was in a lot a lot a lot of pain at delivery. But it all went soooo fast. I pushed 3-4 times and Pj himself got to help deliver this sweet baby girl.
She’s amazing. 7 lbs 6 oz, 19.5 inches born at 1:42 pm.”
Whenever one of my sisters goes into labor, we have this constant group message going with our mother, so we can all get updates as things progress. This time was no different. As soon as the phone goes quiet, we know something’s happening. It was in the middle of th
e afternoon, while mom and I were out celebrating my birthday, that everything went quiet and we knew Lauren was busy having a baby and Kylee was busy capturing the moment with her amazing photography. Mid afternoons the texts started rolling again and baby and momma were both healthy and happy. We were impatient to see the pictures, and stunned when Kylee had finished editing them and sent them through.
Lauren is never more beautiful than when she is giving birth, apparently, because check out these pictures. I can hardly believe how calm and serene she looks moments after giving birth. Maelie, too. She was named by her daddy, because it means beautiful in Chinese, and it fits her perfect. Baby girl came out with a head full of hair, and the sweetest little lips. Her daddy got to deliver her, with the help of the doctor, which made the moment all the more special.
Meeting Sister for the First Time
I facetimed Kylee in the afternoon and Charlie was helping her edit the pics. He wasn’t sure what was going on and why he couldn’t go see his momma. When they finally made it to the hospital, he was a bit shy seeing mom in a hospital bed without her usually round tummy. As soon as his baby sister came rolling in the door, his eyes brightened and all he wanted to do was snuggle her. God bless this perfect little family!
Our mom (grandma) hopped on a plane this morning and should be getting into the valley this afternoon to meet her newest day old granddaughter. Congratulations PJ & Lauren, for creating this perfect little girl. And welcome to the world, Maelie Elise. Guppy loves you!
