My husband and I have been married for almost 7 years. In that time we’ve had a lot of dates. We’ve seen a lot of movies, had a lot of delicious meals and gone on so many adventures. Sometimes they are just an hour or less and sometimes they are the entire weekend. One of the best dates for us is remember the past. A walk down memory lane is just what we needed to re-spark our love. There’s nothing quite like remembering that newlywed bliss and fun dating days. This date idea is so simple. You could make a fun evening or morning date out of it or simply do it at your kitchen table when the kids have gone to bed.
Easy Date Idea
1. Return to the Beginning
While you’re eating or spending time with one another, take a walk down memory lane.
- Where did you meet?
- How did you fall in love?
- What was he thinking when he saw you for this first time?
- Tell him what you were thinking?
- What was the best moment from when you were just dating?
- What surprised you about them?
Take yourselves back to those dating days.Ask questions you’ve never asked before.
2. Get Better Acquainted
Don’t talk about work, church, money, kids or family at all. Instead, get to know each other. I bet it’s been awhile since you really talked about the fluff.
- What was your favorite childhood book?
- Movie?
- Stuffed animal?
- Where was your best family vacation?
- What sport do you wish you could play?
- What would you do if….?
- What was your favorite honeymoon memory?
- Favorite family tradition?
3. Respect
Take it back to the first days you met and how you treated each other. You didn’t talk over each other, you listened and asked questions with those goo-goo eyes. You used words like “thank you” and “you’re welcome.” He opened the door for you and pulled out your chair. Remember the simple basics of respect from when you were dating.
4. Take a Selfie
It may have been awhile since you took a picture on a date. When my husband and I were first dating, we always took pictures together. Now, its quite rare. Don’t forget these days of your life.
5. Find a Song
Did you have a song when you were dating or when you first got married? Play it. If not, find one. If you have one, find one that describes your relationship now.
