A Rainy Oakland Temple Wedding | Lance & Madi

A Rainy Oakland Temple Wedding

Let’s set the scene: It’s raining. Like, raining raining. I’m 8 months pregnant, hopped off a plane in Oakland, and greeted a couple I had never met before… as they walked out of the Oakland LDS Temple as husband and wife. Honestly? Icon behavior on all sides. This rainy Oakland Temple Wedding was unmatched.

Strangers No More

Yep, I met Lance and Madi for the first time the moment they exited the temple—just married and just as sweet as could be. There’s something about instantly clicking with a couple that makes you forget you’re technically working. From the first hello, it felt like we were all in it together—especially because, spoiler alert: the weather was not.

Rain, Dresses, and Pure Chaos

The Bay Area decided to put us in a waterproof chokehold that day. It poured. And poured. And then poured some more. Poor Madi’s gorgeous wedding dress soaked up every drop like a sponge. It got so heavy, I’m honestly shocked she didn’t start sinking into the temple grounds like a Disney princess with unfinished business.

But here’s the thing—no one cared. The vibe was still joyful, calm, and honestly hilarious. There were wet hems, frizzy hair, and umbrella fails… but there was also laughter, hugs, and so much love it kind of felt like the rain was part of the story all along.

12 Hours in Oakland & a Whole Lot of Nostalgia

I was only in Oakland for 12 hours (yes, twelve) but this hometown whirlwind session made every soggy second worth it. There’s just something about the Bay—the smells, the views, the energy—it gets me every time. And even with a baby doing somersaults in my belly, I felt completely in my element.

TL;DR: Soaking Wet, Super Pregnant, and Fully in Love With This Wedding

Lance and Madi, thank you for trusting a very pregnant lady you’d never met to capture one of the most important days of your life. You rolled with the chaos like pros, and you looked amazing doing it—even with rain dripping off your eyelashes.

Would I fly across the state while waddling through airports again for this kind of magic? Absolutely. Just maybe with a poncho next time. Click here to get on my schedule.
