Family photos are a tradition for a lot of families! I personally love getting family pictures every year or even a couple times a year. I know people who do it every other year and that is great too!
Family pictures can be dreaded by many as well. Moms sometimes don’t like being in front of the camera, dads are grouchy about it, and so are the kids! I am going to share some ways to make your family picture day special so that the whole family looks forward to it.

Hire a fun photographer
A boring photographer….not our style! We love making your session fun and enjoyable for the whole family! Building a relationship with your photographer can also help your family know what to expect year after year and look forward to your session with your photographer. Plan on going out to dinner or a fun activity after
We are not against bribery! Having something fun planned after your session gives everyone something to look forward to that they might not normally get to do!

Print the pictures for the children so they are meaningful to them
I know that I have a few pictures with my parents and siblings from my childhood that I absolutely adore! Print the children their own copy of the photos so that they can do what they want with. They can use a print as a bookmark, hang it on their bulletin board or put it by their bed. If they get to see the pictures all the time, they will be more special to them.

Talk about why it is important to take family pictures
It’s no secret anything can happen in this world. I know I have taken a lot of photos that have been used as memorial photos. You will only regret the pictures you don’t take. Explain to your family why it is important to you to document them and they will maybe be more compliant with why they are having to do this.

Show your family old pictures from your family history
How cool is it that photographs can document our lives?! I love looking back on old photos!! The photos you take, will someday be those old photos to look back on! Share that with your family.
