At the beginning of the pandemic, I had two choices -- let my business die or keep on going. It really came down to me, and how I was going to innovate and pivot. At first, I panicked and stopped posting, emailing and even trying to market.
But then I realized I had to keep going or my business wouldn't survive. As a creative in a luxury industry, I knew that clients weren't going to be running to my door. Family pictures were put on the back-burner. Weddings were postponed. Brands were doing their own photos to keep their expenses down. Coaching students didn't even know if they had a business worth fighting for. Clients were not coming easily, and word of mouth wasn't enough to sustain me.
