When we book a wedding we send our brides a questionnaire. It’s our priority to get to know our brides well. The better we know our brides the better we can serve them on their wedding day. My cute bride filled out our questionnaire with so much detail that I just want to share her California Proposal straight from her questionnaire because it’s so cute!

I escaped the frigid tundra of Utah and went to visit Erik in sunny California over a three day weekend in January. I had a thought that he might propose that weekend, but I also thought that he might wait until my birthday in March, either way he had the ring and I knew it would be coming.

We always make it a point to go to the temple when we are together, so we went to the Oakland temple on Saturday, January 14th and did sealings. It was a beautiful day!! The sun was shinning, it was warm, and there was NO SNOW!! Plus in the temple cafeteria, they had watermelon. Yes! Watermelon in January! After eating we went on a walk on the temple grounds that over look the bay and San Fran. We took pictures and just enjoyed the time together.

When we got to the backside of the temple there was a bench. I sat down and asked Erik what the game plan was for the day. He said, “Well, let’s check the adventure bag.” He put his burnt orange backpack on the ground in front of me and asked, “Do you know what I love about you?” I wasn’t surprised when he asked this because he always says stuff like that! (Cute huh?!) He said, “You love Heavenly Father. Remember that scripture about virtue? (Proverbs 31:10) I love how good you are. Open the adventure bag and see what’s inside.”

Background: For Christmas I gave Erik a treasure chest full of notes about attributes that I loved about him.

I unzipped the adventure bag and found the treasure box! He said, “Pull it out.” As I did, I didn’t notice that he had moved from beside me to kneeling in front of me. He said,” Remember that video you sent me? How that guy said why would he wait to ask that girl to marry him.” I replied with, “uh huh.” He said, “well open the box.” So I did and I found the red velvet bag my ring came in! I was shocked! I looked up at him and he said, “So why would I wait any longer to ask you, will you marry me?”

Because I’m so athletic, my eyes sweat during moments like that. So my eyes started to sweat a lot and so I couldn’t do anything but nod and say, “yes!” He was shaking like a leaf when he put the ring on my finger, but then we stood up and hugged….and kissed because, have you seen how handsome he is?! How could I NOT kiss him! Then I said, “Actually. I change my answer of yes to, HECK FREAKIN YES!”
