For about 8 out of the 11 years of running a business, I was scared to hire a coach. I invested a LOT into online classes, courses, in person workshop and conferences. And I learned a lot. But I was still afraid to work one on one with someone. I didn’t want people to see behind the scenes. To question me. I was nervous what they would think of me if they saw it all.
FINALLY, several years ago I started investing in coaching. Letting people into my inner thoughts. The good, bad and ugly. And the growth has been out of this world. Each week I would meet with my coach, and be accountable for the goals I set the week before.
I’m sure you’ve heard me talk about “pulling a Kylee.” I always recommend you GO TO WORK on your big idea without asking your mom, friend, husband if it’s a good idea. I want you to lean into your intuition and not let other people’s doubts cloud that. For years I was really good at this. But I was ALSO good at not telling ANYONE my next big idea. Not just because I didn’t want the naysayers to ruin my vibe. But also, I was afraid of the big things not working out. Living in smallness.
Once I started letting people in, I started setting bigger goals and hitting them. Making 10k, 20k, 30k and 50k months consistently.
Today I want to talk about using accountability partners in your business.
So first, what is an accountability partner?
It’s pretty simple. It’s a partner who is willing to hold you accountable. The idea is that when you tell someone besides just yourself you have more incentive to get it done.
Think about it. When you tell yourself you’re going to take the kids to do something fun and don’t do it, it’s whatever. You can do it tomorrow. But when you told your kids you were going to do something fun, you basically have to.
It’s just like that.
Having an accountability partner is a big big game changer.
- Makes you responsible to someone besides yourself.
You are making a daily commitment to yourself and business. Which helps you stay on track. Even when you’re not motivated.
This dramatically increases your chance to succeed.

- Create deadlines for yourself
Gives you a chance to learn from others
What is required before an accountability group?
- Set a goal
- Set a time
- Show up daily
- Don’t make excuses (vacations, sick kids, car through wall, etc)
I bet if you told someone your goal everyday you would reach it.
