When parents shop online, they’re not just buying a product—they’re imagining how that product will fit into their everyday lives. That’s one of the biggest reasons I love creating lifestyle product photography for children’s brands. Beautiful images don’t simply showcase what a product looks like. They tell a story that helps customers picture themselves using it.
This recent commercial session for August and Ivy was the perfect example. We photographed the launch of their new bibs, knot hats, and play collection at Layton Commons Park, creating imagery that celebrated outdoor adventures, everyday play, and the versatility of their mix-and-match patterns. Watching little ones explore, play, and naturally interact with the products reminded me why lifestyle photography continues to outperform traditional catalog images for so many brands.

Why Lifestyle Product Photography for Children’s Brands Performs Better
White-background product images absolutely have their place. Every e-commerce website needs them for product listings, marketplaces, and clean catalog displays.
But they’re only one piece of the puzzle.
Today’s customers want more than a clear product photo—they want context. They want to see how clothing fits, how accessories are worn, and how products naturally become part of everyday family life.
That’s where lifestyle product photography for children’s brands makes such a difference.
When parents see children comfortably playing outside while wearing coordinating products, they aren’t just evaluating a bib or a hat. They’re imagining family outings, park days, and everyday moments with their own children.
That emotional connection often influences purchasing decisions far more than a simple product image.
Showing Products in Real Life Builds Trust
One of my favorite parts of this session was photographing the products exactly how families would use them.
Instead of stiff poses, we focused on movement, curiosity, and genuine interaction. The children played naturally while wearing August and Ivy’s new collection, allowing the products to become part of the story instead of the only subject.
Lifestyle imagery answers questions customers may not even realize they’re asking.
How does the fabric move?
How do the colors coordinate together?
What does the product look like during everyday activities?
Those answers help build confidence before a customer ever clicks “Add to Cart.”
Outdoor Photography Creates a Relatable Brand Story
Layton Commons Park was the perfect setting for this launch.
The open green space, soft natural light, and relaxed atmosphere complemented August and Ivy’s vision of everyday childhood adventures. The outdoor location reinforced the idea that these products are designed to be lived in—not simply displayed.
Choosing the right location is an important part of commercial photography because the environment becomes an extension of the brand itself.
For children’s companies especially, authentic settings help products feel approachable, functional, and family-centered.
Creating a Gallery That Works Across Every Platform
One of the biggest goals of every commercial session is versatility.
The final gallery should support much more than a single product launch. Great lifestyle images can be used across:
- Shopify product pages
- Social media content
- Email newsletters
- Pinterest marketing
- Digital advertisements
- Website banners
- Future seasonal promotions
Creating a variety of images during one session allows brands to maximize their investment while maintaining consistent visual branding.
Investing in Photography That Connects With Customers
The best commercial photography helps customers imagine themselves using your products before they ever receive them.
That’s why I love creating lifestyle product photography for children’s brands. Sessions like this one for August and Ivy allow me to combine beautiful imagery with intentional storytelling that supports real business growth.
If you’re launching a children’s brand or refreshing your product photography, I’d love to help create a gallery that showcases not only what you sell, but the lifestyle and memories your products help create.
