Andrea and Emily | Scirppts Pier La Jolla Family Pictures

My SIL sends me so many great clients! She was friends with Andrea back in Las Vegas and they both ended up in San Diego. She told me all year that she has this beautiful friend Andrea with a sweet daughter Emily that wanted a Scirppts Pier, La Jolla mother-daughter beach session in San Diego.

Both of us were traveling on opposite schedules and with a global pandemic! It made it hard for us to align our schedules. We even had to reschedule a few times, but I was so glad when we were finally able to set a date!

Outfit change on a public beach

I was back in Utah when we set the appointment and we got to chat back and forth. We talked about outfits and what she wanted the mood to be. Her daughter Emily is 11, so she wasn’t a child anymore, but not quite a teenager just yet. She needed something just right for that in-between phase. It was just the two of them, so we decided to go with 2 outfits, a casual look, and a more elegant look. For the latter, Andrea found the most beautiful, Ivory, ankle-length dress, with a delicately embroidered bodice, and sheer sleeves for Emily. For herself, she donned a soft, fall orange beach dress that complimented Emily’s dress beautifully.

Their causal look complimented the beautiful cool hues of the ocean with whites, tans, and blues and allowed for some splashing and playing around in the water. We were on a public beach without a restroom close, so we had to get creative with changing without providing a show for everyone! It helped that we had 6 hands and long gowns to provide a little protection.

Everyone is already half-naked on a beach anyway right? Andrea wasn’t shy at all and we were able to get them into the next outfit quickly! 

Danced Around in the Waves Beneath the San Diego Sun

I only got to spend a short amount of time with these 2 beautiful women, but I love the dynamic they share. The session moved so smoothly as Emily danced around in the waves beneath the San Diego sun and Andrea and I got to know each other. She was really in her element and needed very little direction. Andrea is beautiful with an equally beautiful heart and soul, and Emily is following right in her kind footsteps.
