Surprise Proposal | Mantua, Utah

I received a text from an unknown number that said “Hi! Taneshia referred me to you, do you have any openings?” I replied to her with my website and said, “of course! Fill out the contact info on here and we’ll get you booked!” I didn’t hear back from her. And I never got her name.

Fast forward a week later…

I had a mini session set up for “Chae.” She got out of the car and we instantly recognized each other. We realized that we had worked together over a year ago. She goes by her first and middle name. I also worked with her sister as well! We were connected in all different circles!

I met her two darling kids, Hailyn and Hudson. Hailyn is a dancer and in my opinion, she should be the star on a Disney channel show. She was a natural in front of the camera and didn’t hold back an ounce of sass. As a former dancer, I enjoyed photographing her different movements. It was fun to call out different stunts and see her fly through the air.

Hudson, was also such a natural. He hit his smoldering looks like he had been doing this his whole life. He was focused and so handsome. These kids need an agent!

Bryan and Chae brought images of their little girl Charlie that passed away earlier this year. Hailyn and Hudson were so excited to hold the beautiful pictures of their baby sister. Bringing pictures of departed loved ones to family pictures is a great way to feel connected during family pictures each year. I had a sister that passed away and we would always bring a picture of her to hold with us in our family portraits.

The best surprise of all my shoots is when Bryan came over and quickly whispered “I want to surprise Chae and purpose to her.” I have dreamt of capturing a moment like this for years! We walked over to Chae who was playing with the kids in the tall grass he said to her, “turn around I have a surprise.” He got down on one knee and as she turned around, the tears started rolling down her cheeks and the kids squealed with excitement! After Chae said yes, the whole family gathered for a long, warm, group hug. I loved capturing this family & an this amazing surprise proposal.
