One of my adorable birth package clients has the most adorable pregnancy updates every month on her blog. Since I started reading hers, I’ve seen a few more friends posting their cute updates too. I don’t have weekly or monthly photos of the bump or updates, but I still wanted to be able to remember what this pregnancy was like. So here’s my first official pregnancy update and maybe a little catch up from the last 6 months.
BABY UPDATES:
HOW FAR ALONG: 25 weeks & 3 days (which is 6 months+)
GENDER: Girl!!! From the very first day I took the pregnancy test, until the official confirmation at the ultrasound I was sure she was a girl. Between extremely dramatic emotions, way more sickness and that mom gut feeling it was an easy guess.
NAME: Piper Ann
HOW BIG IS BABY: According to Baby Center, our baby is now the size of a rutabaga (I had to look it up too). She is approximately 1.5 lbs and 13.5 inches long.
MOVEMENT: She is very active in my little tummy, which is seriously the coolest feeling ever! I felt her move for the first time around 19 weeks. When Brody was out of my tummy, I missed those kicks the very most so this time I’ve been extra careful to cherish every moment of it. When she starts kicking, I put away my phone, computer, food or whatever I’m doing and just enjoy it. I’m so excited for her to start flipping and rolling around in there!
MOMMA UPDATES:
FEELING: Oh boy. This pregnancy has taken me on a roller coaster I was NOT expecting. I loved every second of pregnancy last time and I’m not realizing that that was mostly because it was easy. Pregnancy is incredibly hard when it’s not easy ;). The first trimester was pretty normal for me – over emotional, extremely tired, a bit unmotivated and the normal amount of nausea to be expected. Then at 15 weeks, I got morning sickness so bad that I started throwing up every single day. For the next 8 weeks I was on Zofran and Seabands pretty much 24 hours a day to keep the nausea under control…and even then it was hard. Also lots of prayers. My poor little family was so patient with me. The last 2 weeks have been much better besides the food poisoning episode.
I’ve also had A LOT of anxiety and depression the last couple of months, which is hard for me to talk about. I’ve only told my husband, mom and doctor until now. I have anxiety about the baby, about leaving Brody, about feeling nauseous during a wedding or birth, about my house, about throwing up, about food poisoning and about totally random things…all the time. I’ve even been having full blown anxiety attacks. And with the depression the smallest things have been getting me really down. Motivation is hard to find. Somedays I’d rather just be in bed all day, but thankfully I have Brody to give me lots of hugs and pull me out of bed. Basically my emotions are just all over the place and it’s not enjoyable. at all.
WEIGHT GAIN: Around 16 lbs
CRAVINGS: Just fruit. Maybe now that the thought of food doesn’t make me sick I’ll start having more delicious cravings.
SLEEP: I feel like I could sleep 20 hours a day still, but every time I lay down I can’t sleep. I definitely have pregnancy insomnia.
DOCTOR’S APPOINTMENT: My last doctor’s appointment was two weeks ago. I had the lovely glucose test then my regular appointment afterwords. I am measuring a week behind, but she’s not worried about it yet and I’m not either. If she’s really one week smaller, then woohoo ;) I wouldn’t mind an 8lb baby this time. When I was 38 weeks with Brody, I was also measuring small too. They took me back for an x-ray and he was actually humongous so maybe I just carry my babies weird.
STRETCH MARKS: I haven’t noticed any new ones, but the Brody ones aren’t going anywhere ;). He stretched me to my full capacity (hopefully).
THINGS I’M SO EXCITED FOR:
- More shopping!! I am dying over all this baby girl stuff. Best child leash is on the list, too.
- Setting up her nursery. It’s going to be mint and purple and total perfection.
- Brody meeting his baby sister.
- Maternity leave… I love my job, but I will love the time off with my family.
- Not peeing every time I sneeze. (Though after two kids, not sure if that’s ever gonna stop.) TMI right?
- Nesting
& a few crappy iPhone baby bump pictures because it looks so cute in a swim suit!
