Weddings are like Holidays

The Holidays do something to us. We go crazy for a month RUSHING to buy gifts, finish year’s end at work, decorate the entire house, shovel off the first snow, and attend every last ugly sweater Christmas party imaginable. The month of December speeds by! We spend money we don’t need to on things that don’t matter. Our time is far too often spent on planning instead of enjoying the season.

Finally the Holiday comes. This is when we realize the reason for it all. FAMILY. All of the endless planning went into making sure the holidays were special for the family time. At the end of the day, FAMILY is what matters most.

I guess you could say getting ready for the holidays is like planning for a wedding. You have to make sure everything is prepared. Beautiful. Wrapped. Glistening. Ready for the big day.

My bride tip for the week: don’t forget the reason you are doing all of this. Enjoy rushing around getting the dress, ring, flowers, cake, and every other last detail. But when it is YOUR big day, make sure you know that it is OK if everything doesn’t go as planned. It is OK if you don’t have a million dollar wedding. Really, the imperfections are perfect. Because the entire reason for having a wedding is to celebrate with family and friends the love that you and your wonderful groom have for each other. So plan, plan, plan, but then, enjoy the day! Enjoy the family.
