Denik was started by a group of college kids at Utah State University that wanted to make a difference. They gathered up artists and began binding notebooks together. Everyone told them that it was a terrible career and it wouldn’t succeed. Because art doesn’t make money. They worked hard despite the naysayers.
In the early days you could find Denik everywhere! They set up tables at farmers markets, concerts, parties and other campus events. With every dollar they earned, they set aside money to build schools.
Now they have built 5 schools in third world countries with their sales, and the Denik Movement has moved worldwide.
They believe art can change the world, and they’re proving it.
I’ve had a chance to be their commercial photographer on their latest projects these last few months. I have loved diving into their brand and figuring out who they are. We’ve cracked the code on who they want to attract and planned shoots around that vision. It puts me outside of my comfort zone drastically, but that’s where the creativity comes out.
