It’s easy to get jealous or annoyed when one of our friends or past clients becomes a photographer. They start shooting really low prices (remember, we all did once), taking our mutual friends as their clients and asking for our advice. It happens to all of us…all the time! When I was a beginner, it really bothered me. But now it’s 100% okay…and I’ll tell you why.
1. I have a brand, and a target market!
When I was beginning, I took any and every type of photo session. I shot many different styles, edited each session differently and was extremely inconsistent. Now that I have a brand, people are choosing me for me – not price, not convenience. I know that when people are hiring someone else for pictures, they aren’t my ideal client and that is okay because we can’t be everyone’s ideal client! I’d 100% rather be able to connect to my clients and work with someone who loves my style than someone coming to be for convenience like before.
2. There’s Enough for All of Us
It’s true. There are definitely enough clients to go around, even in Cache Valley with the millions of photographers. You can’t survive in this business when you think you’re the only photographer for every person.
“There are approximately SEVEN BILLION people living in this world right now. All living. All precious. All uniquely different. Their story, deserves to be told beautifully. We can take all the photographers we can get!” – Jaclynn (full post)
