Here at Kylee Ann Studios, we put a ton of importance on education. We believe that as we extend our knowledge and skills, we will be better photographers and better people, capable of serving our clients better.
ShowIt United 2017 was amazing! I’ve never been apart of a photography conference in person. United 2017 was the best one to start with because everyone there is so inviting and happy to share their knowledge and their friendship! Hiliary and I traveled to Tempe AZ for a mini vacation. Big thanks to Kylee for sending us while staying home and holding down the fort (and growing her little baby.) All of our photography heroes were there to teach us including Amy and Jordan, Katelyn James, Jasmine Star, Hope Taylor, Montana Dennis, Melissa Oil, Natalie Franke and Ben Hartley. Getting to rub shoulders with some of the greats in the industry was not just amazing, but so encouraging that there is a place for me in this crazy world of photography. We even got to see some friends in the area and visit some of the LDS Temples in the area. I loved United 2017 so much! Can’t wait for 2018!
Top 3 Things I learned at United:
Intentional Posing
He shared about his parent’s recent divorce and how he realized their connection was to their kids and not to each other while raising a family. Their marriage crumbled overtime and he is working to be the force that helps couples battle the 50% divorce rate though posing and serving the clients with the focus on them not him. I am already working hard to further this idea of love being the legacy and my providing that legacy with a photograph. I plan to help tailor my posing strategy to include more emotion, helping them pull move love out of each other in the session, and rather than JUST being their wedding day best friend, being their life long advocate that their love will maintain and last.
How to book 50 weddings a year
He taught about content marketing and using a blog to truly serve brides and grooms. His whole thing is to create content that is the BEST out there. It gave me a new perspective on something that we already do, but could do even better.
Developing a Brand Daily
She talked about organizing your week better so that your brand development isn’t overwhelming. People who spend more time making time, are more efficient and better paid. She has monthly intentions that help guide her to do lists and branding content. She also talked about how branding is about the experience of the one, meaning depth not breadth. Why do I keep trying to invite NEW people to Instagram while not taking care of the people who have been there all along. I plan to connect deeper with my current couples and communicate with them more often and about important things.
