Hey everyone, meet my mom. Also known as supergrandma. Also known as BFF. And BIRTHDAY girl!
I’ve always known that my mother is the BEST mom in the entire world. That was a given. Little did I know that she had super-grandma powers as well. Growing up, I lived 15 minutes away from one set of grandparents. In middle school, the other grandparents moved 5 minutes away. I was spoiled. I always imagined my kids living that close to my parents to carry on this tradition. Well, my parents and siblings live approximately 900 miles away right now. I was sad that Brody might not know his grandparents. But I was totally wrong. I should’ve known my mom couldn’t stay away.
The day after Brody was born, my mom drove 13 hours in the car to be there the second we were released from the hospital. She stocked up on gluten free groceries, made meals, cleaned the house and most of all helped me get the hang of the mom thing. The day after she left, I cried. Life is always easier with your mom around!
She was there for his first blow out, his first Thanksgiving, his first Christmas, his baby blessing, his first Valentine’s day, his newborn pictures, his first family pictures, his second family pictures, his Easter pictures, his first rollover, his first last and a million other firsts.
I’ve always looked up to my mother. She’s an amazing example of a mother, friend and Christian. She’s Christlike, loving and compassionate. I call her for pretty much everything – cleaning advice, car advice, house advice cooking advice, parenting advice, school advice, advice, advice and advice. She is a genius. Between caring , cleaning and cooking for 6 children, volunteering in schools, Stake YW president, OJP volunteer, and being the wife of an entrepreneur, she doesn’t have any spare time. That is why it is extra special to me how devoted she is to Brody. She’s taken the 900 mile journey more than most have taken the 5 mile journey.
On her 42nd birthday, I want to let the world know how much I admire her as a mother and grandmother. I hope to be like her in every way one day. I love you momma!
