Let me tell you—wind, rain, and freezing temps couldn’t stop Maranda and Jake from absolutely slaying their Bonneville Salt Flats formals session at the Bonneville Salt Flats. This shoot was the definition of making magic in wild conditions, and I’m still obsessed with how it turned out.

From the second they stepped onto the flats, the wind was relentless. But rather than shy away from it, they embraced it—literally. Maranda looked like an actual goddess, her dress catching the wind in the most dramatic, cinematic way. Hair whipping, gown flowing, and the gray skies rolling in—it gave the entire session an epic, raw, and almost otherworldly feel. Every frame felt like it belonged on a movie poster.

What I loved most? Their attitudes. These two were total troopers. They laughed, danced, held each other tight, and didn’t let the cold stop them from soaking up the moment. Their chemistry and connection were undeniable, and honestly, that’s what makes a shoot unforgettable.

This session reminded me that not everything has to go perfectly to be perfect. Sometimes, the unexpected brings out the magic. The Bonneville Salt Flats always deliver something unique, especially for formals —and this stormy session proved it.
