Almost three years ago all my dad’s camera gear was stolen from his car right before Christmas. Luke and I decided to wrap up this camera and leave it on my dad’s chair for Christmas morning. As he came down the stairs on Christmas morning and saw the camera, he smiled the biggest smile and started crying just a little bit. It was a moment I’ll never forget.
Over the past three years I’ve been teaching him everything I know about photography. And he’s amazing at it. So amazing that my mom decided it was time for an upgrade. He’s now sporting a full frame camera with two amazing lenses. They gave me back the Nikon D7000 and 18-55mm lens to sell.
As it’s sat on my desk for the last few weeks, I’ve been thinking about how that camera as blessed my family. It’s been at several weddings, hundreds of sessions, up in the mountains and across the world. Instead of selling it I want to bless someone else with these opportunities. It’s not in perfect condition and it’s even missing a lens cap, but it’s definitely something that will help someone on their photography/life journey.
