Empire Room at Joseph Smith Memorial Building Wedding
Marisa and Calvin met in their BYU ward. But the crazy thing is that Calvin is from Washington and Marisa served her mission in the same area. They reconnected once she went back to her mission area to visit. Though not ideal, they started dating long distance while Calvin was over in WA in dental school. They dated long distance for a long time but finally on one trip everything changed.
Surprise Engagement
Marisa flew to Seattle to surprise Calvin for the weekend. Little did she know that he had prepared to propose to her a few weeks in advance and her sudden appearance put his plan into motion! He set up rose petals on the floor, with a book of photo memories he made for her and a poem he had written. On the last page, there was a photo of him with the ring. He got down on one knee to make that part of their history real. One more crazy layer of this story is that Calvin’s mom knew about BOTH secret plans and had her family fly in AS WELL to be there and surprise everyone. My jaw was on the floor when they told me this story. It’s the most adorable story for the most adorable couple.
Family Luncheon
I photographed Marisa’s cousin’s wedding 2 years ago! Now I got to serve Calvin and Marisa and her extended family again! It makes my heart happy to connect with families multiple times! Can’t get over how Calvin looks at her! Their wedding was was perfection. They had SOOO many people there to celebrate them. Both the Maxwell and Panah families have fun wedding traditions. Both families performed songs, Calvin dedicated a poem to Marisa, Marisa sang a song to him. There was a sweet ring ceremony performed by Marisa’s father. There were tears and laughs had by all the attendees. The Joseph Smith Memorial Building was the perfect spot for their wedding since it was soo close to the SLC Temple. Their wedding can be described in a few words: elegant, romantic, uplifting, sacred and happy. It was sooo fun and so perfect for them.
Ogden Botanical Garden
I loved getting to meet with them a few days ahead of the wedding for their bridal photos in the Ogden Botanical Garden. It was so special to witness their first look as husband and wife. We explored the gardens together and it was kind of funny cause the Ogden Rodeo was going on nearby and it was super loud and we could hear all of it. These two are so kind to each other and I know they are going to take great care of one another! I’m so thrilled they get to be married to each other!
