At the beginning of 2015, I made one of my favorite business decisions EVER. That was to introduce fine art prints, canvas and albums to my brides and families. I always loved seeing photographers that offered their clients products, but getting into the product sales world was so scary to me. Where do I get them printed? How do I price them? How do I offer these products without being pushy? etc.
But enough was enough. My clients were investing so much into their photography sessions, but never printing the photos. And the ones that were printed were over-saturated and blown out prints from Walmart. And I was paying for beautiful, amazing family portraits. And MY pictures were also from Walmart. I was a photographer, and I didn’t practice what I preach. Things had to change. I took a mentoring session from Farner Photography on IPS, and took the plunge.
Now six months later, I’m here to tell you: I did it. I started incorporating beautiful prints, canvas and albums into my business. And I’m obsessed. I send a print order to my labs at least once a week. I spoil my clients with amazing gifts all the time because my products are beautiful…and I believe in them. I tell every photographer that comes through my mentoring doors: start introducing products into your business. You are depriving your clients.
Now I’m here to help YOU on your journey. The FIRST step in transitioning to product sales is to believe in it yourself. That’s right. You can’t honestly sell something that you don’t truly believe in and love. Find a print lab, an album lab and a canvas lab and order samples of your personal photos. Fill your walls with fine art prints, your coffee tables with albums and your home with amazing memories. Start with one photo, but in a month or two I guarantee you’ll have all your home filled with all your pretty pictures.
