My biggest insecurity is my age. Without fail at least one person will ask me how old I am or tell me I look like I’m 16 years old when I’m shooting a wedding. They say it in a condescending way that makes me feel like maybe I am less adequate because I am so young. I cringe when people ask these questions because I know the face that I’ll see when I tell them my age. Well, tomorrow is my birthday and I’m tired of awkwardly avoiding the dreaded age question.
Tomorrow I will be twenty-one.
I graduated high school when I was 17, got married when I was 18, started a business when I was 19, had a baby when I was 20 and will officially get my college diploma right after I turn 21.
I understand that this lifestyle isn’t for everyone and I know that some parents probably use my example as “what not to do,” but I am proud of myself and that’s all the matters. You’re never too young to follow your dreams.
No one can make you feel inferior without your consent. ~Eleanor Roosevelt
A successful person is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks that others throw at him or her. ~David Brinkley
