Business Checklist for Photographers
At the beginning of every year, there are several things I do as a photographer to set up my year for success.
1. I update my business plan.
- Define my products and services
- Define my target market
- Create a marketing plan
- Plan my finances
- Set new goals
- Detailed list here…
- I get organized.
- New physical file folders for receipts, contracts, invoices
- New digital files for client database, expense tracking, etc
- A fresh physical calendar (get mine here – includes monthly planning, blogging calendar, weekly planning, yearly social media stats, yearly session and income reporting, client workflow charts, client database and notes)
- Update client welcome packets or gifts for the year
- Archive and back-up 2014 pictures and files to hard drive
- Inventory current equipment with serial numbers and make sure your insurance is also up to date
- I make sure I’m legal and my licenses are up-to-date!
- Register Business Name with the State
- Business License Renewal
- Sales Tax License
- Separate Bank Accounts
- Get Insurance
- I collect last year’s tax information to get ready for income taxes.
- Expense tracking
- Mileage tracking
- Yearly Income Reporting Charts
