Wave of Mind was looking to get organic product photos for their beautiful journals. They are a relatively new company with an incredible product! Each journal is has a different theme focused on emotional well-being. They are a tool to use when battling anxiety and depression. The Wave of Mind brand is calm, deep, vulnerable, expansive, and hopeful. My goal was to convey that within the images.
I personally have dealt with anxiety, and just the colors of these products were soothing to me. Adding organic elements into the product photos just helped add to the effect. Neutral backgrounds, wood, plants, and dried florals were a really good start. It’s important to me that I have a variety of photos for my clients to choose from. I took group photos of all of the journals together, as well as small group photos of colors that worked well together. Then I took individual shots of each book. Part of the individual shots included close ups of the different details. Since each journal has a different theme and prompts I also included several photos of the inside pages of each one.
Along with flatlays I was able to get organic product photos with the lifestyle images. Any time a photo connects with the audience it feels real. Organic. Adding children to some of the photos was a really simple way to do that. Women, especially moms, almost always act naturally around children. Another easy way to help them feel comfortable is by having them lay down on a bed, snuggle up by a couch, or sit at a kitchen counter. Including scenes of every day life is another way to help the audience feel right at home with the product. They can envision themselves using it in their own home.
