There are many ways for both photographers, and people getting their picture taken to prepare for a snow photo session. Snow photo sessions can turn out absolutely beautiful but just take a little preparation in advance to have a good experience.
For the subjects:
- Wear layers of clothing and choose colors that will look nice in the photos. 2. Bring a thermos of hot chocolate and snacks to keep warm between shots. 3. Bring extra hats, gloves, and scarves to add variety to the photos. 4. Bring hand warmers 5. Have a plan for where you want to take the photos and how you want to use the snow. 6. Bring a blanket to sit on if the snow is too cold. 7. Bring a brush to brush off the snow from your clothing and props. 8. Make sure your camera is well insulated to prevent any damage. 9. Have fun with your loved ones.
For the photographer
Before the photo session: 1. Make sure you have the right camera equipment. If you are using a DSLR, make sure it is properly insulated to protect it from the cold. 2. Charge the batteries for your camera and any auxiliary equipment like flashes. 3. Pack extra batteries and memory cards in a waterproof bag just in case. 4. Check the weather forecast to make sure it will be suitable for a photo session in the snow. 5. Research possible locations for taking photos and contact any necessary officials to get permission to take photos in the area. 6. Pack all the necessary clothing, props, and equipment for the session. 7. Make sure you have a plan for how you want to use the snow in the photos. 8. Wear a snowsuit so you can move around freely while photographing. 9. Get creative!
