In my opinion, newborns are one of the hardest subjects to photograph. Proper preparation before the session can make all the difference in the world. If you have a newborn session coming up, here are some tips just for you on preparing for newborn photos.
1. Feed and burp your baby right before their session
2. Loosen clothing before the session
At least 30 minutes before the session, make sure your baby’s diaper and clothing has been loosened to prevent those big red marks all over their skin.
3. Bring an extra bottle or plan to breastfeed again during the session
4. Feel free to bring any special props, outfits or accessories you want to use.
This session is for you. If you ordered a special prop or have a family heirloom you want to add to the photos, let the photographer know in advance!
5. Relax and stay patient!
Sometimes newborn sessions can take a few hours. Expect this and don’t worry if your baby is being fussy or squirmy. Babies can feel your stress. Bring a good book to read or take some time to catch up on social media while your baby is doing their thing.
