So what if “90% of New Year’s Resolutions fail”? I’m definitely not going to let that stop me from writing goals each year.
This year I decided to choose a few things that I could do better from last year. I know that if I write “go to the gym 3 times a week” I’m going to eventually fall behind and give up. Instead, I’m just going to try a little harder to be a little better on these main things in my life. Wish me luck.
a person makes a promise to do an act of self-improvement or something slightly nice.
I resolve to be more active.
Brody and I are going to be taking more walks, longer trips to the park, exercising, playing, hiking and exploring more. I’m exited to have my active little man by my side pushing me to be better.
I resolve to read more.
I have not read a full book since Brody was born over a year ago. I can’t multitask while I read, so I find it more difficult to find the time to curl up with a good book.
- SCRIPTURES. I followed @bof365 on Instagram to keep up with the daily reading assignments for completion of the Book of Mormon in 2014.
- PHOTOGRAPHY. I got three new educational books for my business that I’m going to read cover to cover in the next few months. Understanding Exposure, Photography Business Secrets and Picture Perfect Practice.
- PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT. I’m going to start be re-reading some of my favorites like How to Win Friends and Influence People. And maybe crack open all the marriage books that I got before I was even married.
- FICTION. First on my list is Dead Girls Don’t Lie.
I resolve to be more present.
With having my own business without set hours or an office away from home, I am constantly working. Throughout the entire day I am answering emails and calls, blogging, marketing, planning etc. Even though I get to be a stay at home mom, I am working 30-40+ hours per week in between everything. In 2014, I want to be more present for my family. I am going to turn off my phone and computer more, schedule my work time and plan ahead.
I resolve to stand up for myself.
I usually let people walk all over me because I’m a big pushover. I hate confrontation. I’d rather hide my feelings and keep them built up inside then potentially offending a friend by telling them how I feel. It’s time for this to change because I’m tired of holding it all inside and I’m sure my husband is tired of hearing about it too ;)
