Cute Hens was not in the mood for pictures this night. And I don’t blame her. Sometimes pictures are the worst. She was ready to go home as soon as they arrived. And would not smile even for the best tricks her family had up their sleeves. These Logan Utah Family Photographer Denzil Stewart are some of my all-time fave.

I get teary thinking about this session because it captured this sweet sweet family in all the ways I admire most about them.

Jaymie and Jesse are the most patient, loving parents I know. When Hens is mad or sad, they are so kind through their parenting. It has to be frustrating planning family pictures and getting everyone ready, only to feel like you didn’t get one. But they did not let the frustration show. After a few minutes of trying, they were okay calling it quits.

But I kept shooting.

And I watched Mack be the silly little brother. I watched Nixon love his sister with his entire soul. Doing whatever he could to show her love and make her laugh. I saw Jesse and Jaymie give her patient loving looks, hugs and pep talks.

And after 20 minutes of every trick in their books, I saw Hens magical smile.
