Brennan and Austin arrived at Logan Regional hospital around 10:40 AM to prepare for the delivery of their baby girl. The nurses got B gowned up and Austin scrubbed up. They started Brennan on fluid and connected her to all the monitors. I showed up just after 11. We spent the next two hours chatting and trying to distract Brennan from the nerves.
They took Austin and Brennan back to the OR around 1:30. I was not allowed in the OR but after the spinal tap was done, the nurses snuck me into a window where they let me roll the blinds up about 6 inches. Even though I was shooting into a tiny crack and really thick glass, I was able to capture most of the c-section delivery. The best part was hearing Brennan’s emotions. You never had to guess how she was feeling! She definitely kept the nurses and doctors entertained! At times she was scared, at times she was hungry and at times she was in love. After Avery was born she was screaming “she’s so freaking cute! I love her so much” over and over. It made me tears watching all her emotions during the delivery! Avery Grace was 8lbs 9oz (totally my guess right before delivery) and 19 inches long. Her chubby cheeks, sweet baby sounds and thick hair are to-die-for.
After the surgery they wheeled Brennan back into recovery. Austin loved on baby Avery from the OR to recovery then came to show off their sweetie to B. After some skin-to-skin and nursing, big sis Lainey and both grandmas came to visit. Lainey is going to be the BEST big sis! I’m so excited for this cute family of four!
