It’s easier to see the product – especially the small details
Busy backgrounds can make it harder for people to immediately see the product. It can help to remove distractions and simplify. Keeping things clean with a paper backdrop will provide space for viewers to see product instead of being distracted by surrounding elements.
Creates cohesion
Sometimes your products have busy colors, patterns, shapes and sizes. A great way to creat cohesion in a brand shoot is to use paper backdrops. This will provide a consistent look for the shoot, because the background texture and colors will match – even if the products don’t.
In this shoot we have ties and backpacks. Some photos are flats and some are They may not immediately seem to go together but with the paper backdrop, they become more cohesive and make more sense.
It’s easier to see where to focus
Finding the focal point as a photographer is one of the most important things to do. It is the difference between crystal clear and fuzzy photos. The clearer the photos, the more professional they look (for you and your clients). When there is a flat background, it’s easier to find that focal point and focus those lenses on it.
Mix up your content on your website & socials
Backdrops look great on a grid and on a feed. They stand out enough that it will often cause people to pause before scrolling on. If things are too busy and hard to recognize right away, it’s easier to scroll right past.
For product pages especially, it’s great to have these kinds of picture for clarity, and also for aesthetic.
On many social media platforms, adding text & overlays can be fun and useful. Pictures with backdrops make great candidates for these kinds of posts.
