How to Make a Successful Transition from Wedding Photography to Brand Photography
Five years ago, I retired from wedding photographer and dove into brand photography full time. I had just me, my camera, my kids and a little window light in my front room. With only a paper roll and a few stools, I landed myself with a dozen consistent clients. That’s all it took for me to start living my dream life as a successful brand photographer. If you’re feeling burned out on your wedding photography business or curious about making the transition to brand photography, I’m here to tell you that it is totally possible! Let me explain how you can make this shift and still keep your nights and weekends free while earning an amazing paycheck year-round.
The Benefits of Brand Photography
There are many benefits of transitioning from wedding photography to brand photography, but one of the greatest ones is being able to create quality relationships with your kids while they’re young. As a brand photographer, you will be able to set your own hours and work on projects at your own pace rather than spending long days shooting weddings or editing photos until late at night. This will give you more time and energy to spend with your family so that you don’t miss out on important moments with them as they grow up.
Another great benefit of being a brand photographer is having consistent (and amazing) paychecks year-round – even during slow season! As most wedding photographers know, slow season can be tough financially but with brand photography there are always opportunities for new clients and projects regardless of the time of year. This gives you the confidence knowing that your business will provide steady income all year long without fail!
Finally, shooting for the same clients every month means building strong relationships over time which leads to more referrals and repeat customers down the road. With each client comes different challenges and unique opportunities for creative expression which keeps things interesting for both parties involved! Plus, if you have multiple clients then there’s no need to worry about slow season because chances are one client’s busy season could be another’s slow season – creating balance throughout the year.
Making the transition from wedding photography to brand photography has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my career. Not only do I get paid well all year round but I also get more time with my kids when they’re young! If you think this might be something you want to pursue then go for it – there are plenty of resources available online (including mine!) that can help guide you through this process step-by-step so that you can start living your dream life too! Good luck!
