1 Year Photos with Traditional Hanbok | Iris’s Birthday Session

Few sessions tug at my heartstrings the way this one did. Sweet Iris turned one, and we celebrated with 1 Year Photos in the prettiest mountain wildflowers. To make it even more special, her parents dressed her in a traditional Korean hanbok to honor her heritage. I’ve photographed this family year after year, so documenting Iris at such a meaningful milestone felt like a gift.

The hanbok stole the show with its vibrant colors, intricate details, and layers full of tradition. Against the backdrop of golden light and blooming wildflowers, Iris looked like a little princess. It was the perfect way to capture both her culture and her joyful personality.

Celebrating a First Birthday with Tradition

In Korean culture, a baby’s first birthday—known as Doljanchi—is a beautiful celebration. It represents blessings, health, and hope for the future. Iris’s parents brought her hanbok to the shoot with so much thought and intention. The moment she put it on, you could feel the shift. The atmosphere became rich with meaning, and every frame carried that significance.

The way the colorful fabric caught the sunlight against the meadow’s soft greens and purples was pure magic. These photos are more than portraits—they’re a reflection of love, family, and culture woven together.

Why I Love Photographing 1 Year Photos
