Back-to-School Photos at Blush Door Studio | A Simple Yearly Tradition

There is something about the few weeks before school starts that makes me want to freeze time.

The kids are growing, changing, getting new shoes and backpacks, and somehow getting ready for another school year. Before everything gets busy again, a quick photo session is such a fun way to document exactly who they are right now.

I recently photographed this sweet family at Blush Door Studio for some new photos of their kiddos before school started. It was simple, quick, and exactly what I love about a family mini session.

Why Take Back-to-School Photos?

Every year, your kids change.

Sometimes you notice it immediately. Other times you don’t realize how much they’ve grown until you look back at an old photo.

That’s what makes yearly back-to-school pictures so fun.

You get to see the changes from one year to the next—the missing teeth, new hairstyles, changing personalities, and all of those little things that make each age unique.

You don’t need a huge family session every year to document it.

A short mini session can be enough.

Keep It Simple

Back-to-school photos don’t need to involve a complicated setup.

For this family, we kept things simple at Blush Door Studio and focused on getting fresh photos of the kids before they headed back to school.

That makes a mini session a great option for busy families. You don’t need to spend an entire afternoon getting everyone ready or plan an elaborate outing.

Come in, take some photos, and get back to enjoying those last few days of summer.

Let Their Personalities Show

One of my favorite things about photographing kids is seeing how different they are from year to year.

Their personalities change just as much as their faces do.

Some years they’re silly. Some years they’re shy. Some years they want to pose for every photo, and some years they’re much more interested in doing their own thing.

I don’t need every child to sit perfectly and smile at the camera.

I want to capture who they are right now.

Those are the photos you’ll love looking back on.

Why Blush Door Studio Works for a Mini Session

A studio is especially convenient for quick family sessions.

We don’t have to worry about summer heat, wind, rain, or finding a location that works for everyone’s schedule.

Blush Door Studio gives us a simple space where we can focus on the kids and get a variety of images in a short amount of time.

It’s a great option when you want updated photos without committing to a full family session.

Make It an Annual Tradition

If you love having updated pictures of your kids, consider making back-to-school photos an annual tradition.

You could photograph them in the same general style each year, or change it up as they grow.

Either way, you’ll eventually have a little collection showing your kids from one school year to the next.

And I promise, those simple pictures will become more meaningful the older they get.

Ready for Your Own Back-to-School Photos?

If you’re realizing that the kids have somehow grown another inch since last school year, this is your sign to get those photos updated.

I photograph family mini sessions at Blush Door Studio and love creating quick, relaxed sessions that let kids be themselves.

If you want fresh photos of your kids before the next school year gets busy, reach out to me, Regie, at Kylee Ann Studios and let’s get your mini session on the calendar.
