Boettcher Mansion Wedding | Golden Colorado Wedding Photographer | Corina & Steven
I think the hardest part of planning a wedding is that you don’t know what the weather is going to do. You always need a backup in case it rains. Even if you wedding is in the middle of the summer. Of course as a wedding photographer you do as much as you can to prepare for the worst. We always suggest doing a formal session ahead of time so that you have some picture that are already done. This makes it so you still have beautiful portraits on the wedding day.
Since I was traveling to Colorado for this wedding we weren’t able to do a formal session early. But we lucked out the ENTIRE wedding day. It was supposed to rain during the ceremony, but it ended up raining before. When I got to the venue I told Corina, “I’m glad it’s raining right now, because that means it will clear up for the ceremony!!” and it did exactly that! All of the guest were talking about a rainbow during the ceremony. I can’t think of a better good luck charm than having a rainbow come out during your ceremony.
My favorite part of this Boettcher Mansion Wedding was watching Corina in the bride room before the ceremony. She was so nervous, but also so excited to see her soon-to-be husband. There were a few minutes before everyone came to get ready where it was just Corina and me in the bride room. These always feel like such sacred moments. It was silent, and I almost wanted to fill the silence with small talk, to keep Corina’s mind busy so she wouldn’t be nervous. I sat there, looking at Corina, curled up on the couch, and I decided to just let her be by herself. I thought about what could be going on in her mind. Her and Steven had been friends since High School. She was about to make the biggest promise of her life to her best friend. I’m so lucky to be a witness to these moments.
