Graduation season is always a favorite of mine, but as a Salt Lake City senior photographer, capturing Grace’s University of Utah senior session was truly something special! Grace isn’t just a U of U graduate—she’s also a talented collegiate volleyball player who spent her years at the U making a name for herself both academically and athletically.

From the moment we met up for her session, her joy and excitement were contagious. She has that perfect mix of grace (pun intended!) and strength that made capturing her senior portraits such a breeze.

From the Huntsman Center to President’s Circle

We started at the iconic Jon M. Huntsman Center, the arena where Grace spent countless hours competing and training during her time as a Ute. It was the perfect backdrop to honor her time as a student-athlete and celebrate all her hard work. Plus, it felt so personal to her story—and that’s exactly what senior sessions should be!

After soaking up the energy of the Huntsman Center, we wandered through campus, stopping at favorite spots and hidden gems along the way. As a U of U alum myself, I know the University of Utah campus like the back of my hand—which means I was able to guide Grace to all the best photo locations (and even a few secret ones!).

We ended at the classic and stunning President’s Circle. With the soft evening light pouring through the trees, it was everything we could have hoped for. Grace absolutely glowed, and it was the perfect final touch to her University of Utah graduation pictures.

Oh—and we even had a surprise appearance from Swoop himself, which made the night even more unforgettable!

Why This Session Meant So Much

Every session is special, but when you get to photograph a fellow Ute, it hits differently. Being back on campus always brings back so many memories for me, and getting to walk those same paths with someone who’s now starting their next chapter is honestly a little magical.

Capturing Grace’s excitement, her pride, and her ready-to-take-on-the-world energy was such an honor. This girl is going places, and I’m so lucky I got to freeze this amazing moment in her life.
