Diaper Bag Product Photography | Studio Session for Modern Moms

When I photograph products for moms, I’m always thinking about real life—how something looks, yes, but more importantly how it functions day to day. This diaper bag product photography session was all about showcasing a bag that truly does both.

I shot this session at Simply Shelby Studios in Brigham City, working with a brand that’s extra special to me because it’s owned by a friend and former neighbor. Getting to support her business through photography made this shoot even more meaningful—and honestly, I already use this bag every single day, so I knew firsthand just how good it is.

Diaper Bag Product Photography That Highlights Real Function

From the moment I started planning this session, I knew the focus needed to be on the details. This bag isn’t just cute (though it absolutely is)—it’s incredibly functional, especially for moms juggling toddlers, babies, and everything in between.

What stood out to me most is the amount of storage. There are so many thoughtfully designed pockets, and each one serves a purpose. As a photographer, that meant getting creative with how to visually communicate those features.

During this session, I focused on capturing:

  • Close-up shots of the different pockets and compartments

  • Images highlighting zipper details and construction

  • The versatility of strap options (backpack and crossbody)

  • Angles that show how the bag holds its shape when full

  • Lifestyle moments that show how it’s actually used

These types of images help customers immediately understand not just what the product looks like, but how it works in real life.

Creating Elevated Studio Product Imagery

One of my favorite parts of this shoot was playing with light. I leaned into a creamy, golden tone in the background with soft shadows throughout, which gave the images a warm, elevated feel while still keeping things clean and professional.

Studio sessions allow for so much control, and I used that to create a look that feels both polished and inviting. The goal was to make the product stand out while still feeling like something you could seamlessly incorporate into your everyday life.

We also incorporated a baby model (who was, without question, one of the cutest babies I’ve ever worked with), which helped bring the product to life in a natural way. Seeing the bag in use adds another layer of relatability that purely styled product shots can’t always achieve on their own.

A Diaper Bag That Goes Beyond the Basics

What I love most about this bag is how versatile it is. It’s designed with moms of toddlers in mind, but it doesn’t feel limited to that stage of life.

It works just as well as:

  • An everyday purse

  • A diaper bag for toddlers

  • A travel bag for infants

  • A hands-free option for busy moms on the go

That kind of flexibility is something I always try to highlight in product photography, because it’s often what makes a customer choose one product over another.

Telling a Story Through Product Photography

At the end of the day, sessions like this are about more than just documenting a product—they’re about telling the story of how it fits into someone’s life.

This shoot was a mix of intentional detail shots, lifestyle moments, and clean studio imagery, all working together to show the full picture of what this bag offers.

And when it’s a product I genuinely love and use myself, that storytelling becomes even more natural.

If you’re a brand looking to showcase your products in a way that highlights both beauty and functionality, Kylee Ann Studios can help you create a gallery that connects with your audience and elevates your brand. Reach out to start planning your next commercial session.
