Extended Family Session in the Mountains of Salt Lake City

Jordan Pines is one of my favorite locations in the Salt Lake area. It’s tucked into the mountains with tall pine trees, golden light, and open spaces that work beautifully for big groups. For this session, we had that dreamy summer sunshine peeking through the trees, soft light that wrapped every photo in glow, and just enough breeze to keep everyone comfortable.

When you’re photographing an extended family, space matters. Jordan Pines gave us plenty of room to spread out while still keeping everyone connected. The setting made it easy to create photos that feel natural and timeless.

A Session with a Special Family

Photographing Angie’s family felt extra meaningful. Angie is both a dear friend and someone I’ve worked with before. I had already taken her daughter’s senior photos, so being asked to capture her whole extended family—grandparents, siblings, grandkids—was a huge honor.

That’s one of my favorite parts about being a photographer: watching families grow and getting invited back to document the next chapter. These photos aren’t just about milestones; they’re about preserving the in-between moments filled with laughter, hugs, and connection.

This family nailed the outfit game! The sisters looked absolutely gorgeous in chic, coordinated styles that worked beautifully in the mountain backdrop. And the grandkids? They brought so much energy and joy. From hugs with Nana to playful sprints through the trees, they made every shot come alive.

We mixed posed portraits with playful candids. The result? A collection of photos that show the beauty, love, and real personalities of this amazing family.
