My wake up call came at 4:00 AM, but Jodi’s was much earlier. Labor started at 1:30 AM and continued fast and hard until she woke up Jim and decided to leave for the hospital. Jim packed up the car, fueled up and averaged 80 mph the entire 30 mile drive to the hospital. When I got to the hospital, their car was still parked at the front drop off entrance. It was fast and intense! She checked in at 5cm and 20 minutes later was 7+cm. Once Jodi was checked in and the epidural had given her some relief, Jim could move the car and take a breather himself!
This was Jodi’s third baby and Jim’s first! It was such a fun and special time for bothof them as they were about to meet their first child together! The only thing we were waiting on was Jodi’s water to break, which wasn’t happening on it’s own. Her doctor’s shift (Dr Craig) was over at 7:00 AM. At 6:30 the nurses called her. At 6:45 she was there and ready to go. She broke Jodi’s water, Jodi pushed 4 times and little Journie made her appearance at 7:02 AM. 6lbs 15oz and born on her due date. It was a perfect way to end a shift and the fastest delivery ever!!
