Logan Utah Extended Family Photographer | Why Extended Family Photos Are Always Worth It

One of my favorite things about being a Logan Utah extended family photographer is getting to document entire family legacies in a single session.

The Johnson family gathered at Denzil Stewart Park for updated extended family portraits, and sessions like this are such a good reminder of how quickly families grow and change. Kids get taller, grandchildren arrive, siblings move away, and before you know it, several years have passed since everyone was last together in front of a camera.

That’s why extended family sessions matter so much.

Why extended family photos become more valuable over time

Most families book photos for major milestones.

A graduation. A wedding. A new baby.

But extended family portraits often become some of the most treasured images because they capture multiple generations together.

Grandparents with grandchildren.

Adult siblings with their families.

Cousins who only get to see each other a few times each year.

These photographs become family history.

Denzil Stewart Park is perfect for large groups

When photographing large families, location matters.

Denzil Stewart Park in Logan offers plenty of space for large group arrangements while still providing beautiful scenery throughout the session. The mature trees, open grass, and mountain views create a backdrop that feels distinctly Cache Valley without overwhelming the people in the photo.

It’s one of my favorite locations for extended family sessions because it works well for both large group portraits and smaller family breakouts.

Making extended family sessions easy

One concern I hear often is that extended family photos will feel stressful.

Honestly, they don’t have to.

A well-planned session moves quickly and efficiently. We capture the large group first, then work through individual family combinations, sibling groups, grandparents with grandchildren, and any special requests.

The goal is to create a gallery that serves everyone while keeping the experience fun and relaxed.

Creating memories for future generations

Years from now, these photographs will tell a story.

They’ll show who was there. What everyone looked like. Which little cousins couldn’t sit still. Which grandparents held everyone together.

That’s why I love extended family photography so much.

As a photographer serving Logan, North Logan, Providence, Hyde Park, Smithfield, Richmond, and communities throughout Cache Valley, I know how important family connections are in this area.

The Johnson family session was a beautiful reminder that gathering everyone together is always worth the effort.

If you’re looking for a Logan Utah extended family photographer, I’d love to help create images your family will treasure for generations.
