Logan Utah Family and Senior Photos | Leishman Family Session at the Logan Tabernacle

This Logan Utah family and senior photos session for the Leishman family was such a fun mix of milestones in one shoot. We combined updated family portraits with senior photos for their son, and it ended up being the perfect way to document this season of life all together.

They joked at the beginning that they were “awkward in front of the camera,” but honestly, that couldn’t have been further from the truth. From the very first setup, they were natural, relaxed, and so easy to photograph.

It had been over five years since their last family photos, so this session felt especially meaningful. Life gets busy fast, and it’s so easy for years to pass without updating family portraits.

Logan Utah family and senior photos at the Logan Tabernacle

We photographed this session at the Logan Tabernacle, which is one of my favorite locations in Cache Valley for timeless, classic portraits. The architecture, clean lines, and soft neutral tones make it perfect for both family groupings and senior portraits in the same session.

One of the biggest wins of this session was how well everything flowed together. We were able to capture full family photos, then transition into individual senior portraits without losing momentum or energy.

The Leishmans actually had just returned from a trip to Mexico and only had one day to pull outfits together before the session. They were a little stressed about it at first, but they absolutely nailed it. Everything photographed so well together and felt cohesive without being overly styled.

Why flexibility matters in family photo sessions

One thing I always try to prioritize in sessions like this is flexibility. With Utah weather shifting quickly in early spring, we ended up moving the session date slightly earlier than originally planned. That decision made a huge difference because the light and conditions ended up being perfect.

Families often worry about not being “ready” or not having everything perfectly planned, but this session is such a great reminder that connection matters way more than perfection.

The Leishman family showed up, trusted the process, and leaned into the experience. That’s really what makes photos feel natural in the end.

Combining senior portraits with family photos

I love when families choose to combine senior portraits with updated family photos. It creates a complete story of the season they’re in right now, especially as kids start preparing for graduation and the next chapter of life.

For this session, we made sure the senior had time for individual portraits that felt personal and confident, while also capturing the warmth and connection of the entire family together.

The Logan Tabernacle gave us the perfect backdrop for both. It’s timeless enough for family portraits but also structured enough to highlight senior images in a clean, intentional way.

I photograph families and seniors throughout Logan, North Logan, Hyde Park, and surrounding Cache Valley areas, and sessions like this are always some of my favorites because they capture so much in one gallery.

This Logan Utah family and senior photos session felt like such a beautiful reminder that you don’t need perfect timing or perfect circumstances to create meaningful photos. You just need to show up and be together.

If you’re thinking about combining senior portraits with family photos, I’d love to help plan a session that feels natural, relaxed, and true to your family’s season. Reach out through my contact page and let’s start planning.
