Anna and Dave met on their LDS missions in Taiwan and were married shortly after. They’ve kept up on their Chinese and taught their two sons a little bit of Chinese from when they could first talk. It has always been a dream for them of one day adopting a child from China. Last year, they moved to China for a job and were referred a baby girl. After many months of waiting and paperwork, they finally brought home their baby girl, Jade.
When they first got her from the orphanage, she was very weak. In the orphanage, she wasn’t given very many opportunities to strengthen her muscles or learn how to roll over, crawl or sit up. Also, she was born with a condition called cleft lip and palate. After just a few months, Jade has had her surgery on her palate and become so much stronger.
On Friday, family and friends joined together in the Bountiful Temple to witness this family sealing. It’s amazing how much love can change a girl.
The adoption was challenging – the LOVE arrived instantly.

They may not have my eyes, they may not have my smile, but they have all my heart.

Adopting one child won’t change the world: but for that child, the world will change.
