Mantua Bridal Photography | JJ & Caitlin’s Joyful First Look Session

Mantua bridal photography sessions are always stunning, but JJ and Caitlin’s formal session took the magic to a whole new level. With a backdrop full of mountain air and lake views, and a couple as sweet as these two, it was one of those shoots that felt like something out of a love story.

I’ve known Caitlin’s family for years, so when I was asked to capture her first look with JJ, it felt like such an honor. These two have a joy that just radiates. They’re the kind of couple who makes you believe in soulmates—and seeing them together is pure happiness.

The original plan was to shoot at Tony Grove Lake, but just 20 minutes before we were supposed to head up the canyon… it closed. Yep—due to a fire in the area. Total curveball. But we pivoted fast (shoutout to their amazing videographers, Kolton and Kell Darley, for being so quick on their feet!) and chose an alternate location: the Box Elder Campgrounds and Mantua Lake.

And honestly? I think it was meant to be. The change of plans led us to a location that perfectly matched the peaceful, romantic vibe of their relationship. The greenery, the lake, the open skies—it was breathtaking. There’s something about Mantua that just feels magical. Especially when you’re photographing a love like this.

My Favorite Part of This Incredible Bridal Session

The most emotional part of the session? JJ’s reaction during the first look. When he turned around and saw Caitlin—his bride—standing there in a gown handmade by her aunt, tears filled my eyes. You could feel how deeply he loves her, how honored he was to call her his future wife. It was such a tender, sacred moment.

From there, the entire shoot unfolded like a dream. We wandered along the lakeside, through mountain paths, and into golden pockets of light that made every frame feel like art. Caitlin’s dress flowed with the breeze, and JJ never stopped smiling at her. It was effortless and full of meaning—the kind of shoot I’ll never forget.

Caitlin later sent me the sweetest message:

“Bri, these pictures are absolutely gorgeous and stunning. You are next-level amazing!”

I mean… 💛 That’s the goal. To capture love as it is—real, raw, and joy-filled.
