Marriage Tip | Loving your Spouse Selflessly

Marriage Tip | Loving your Spouse Selflessly

Marriage is so fun, rewarding, and exciting especially when you are loving your spouse selflessly. When you’re first married everything is a blast. Just the fact that you live with your best friend is enough to make you smile every single second. It’s still just as fun a couple years down the road! But, let’s be real here, living and sharing a life with anyone can be hard at times. Everyone has their quirks (yes, even you) that you have to learn to love. Here are a few things I have learned over the years that have helped me love my husband in a selfless, Christlike way.

Don’t Keep Score

Selfless acts in marriage shouldn’t be displayed on a scoreboard. If they were, they wouldn’t be selfless. Choose to do things for your spouse because you love them, not because you want something in return.

Pray for Them

I know, I know, you’ve heard this advice before. Truly, I can’t think of a better way to love your spouse than to pray to a Being with higher power to bless and guide them than any of us will ever have. It sets a tone of love, acceptance, and support in your mind and in your heart.

Ignore the Little Things

I’ve come to realize that there are very few things worthy of being upset about. When something little comes up, take a deep breathe, fix it in anyway that you can, and then move on. Don’t spend time worked up over something that won’t matter tomorrow.
