Some family sessions are meaningful because of the milestone being celebrated. Others are meaningful because they bring together people who don’t often get to be in the same place at the same time.
The Keoppel family’s Midway Utah family reunion photos were the perfect example of why gathering your loved ones together is always worth documenting.
Penny Keoppel planned this session while her family was meeting in beautiful Midway, Utah, for a family reunion. It was a special season for their family because Penny’s son Logan had recently welcomed his first baby boy. This sweet little guy was the newest addition to the family, and everyone was excited to celebrate him.
One of the sweetest parts of the session was watching his cousin completely adore him. The love and curiosity between them was so genuine, and those little interactions are exactly the kind of moments that make family photography so meaningful.

Why I Love Midway Utah Family Reunion Photos
Midway is one of my favorite locations for family photography because it offers a beautiful combination of mountain views, charming scenery, and a relaxed atmosphere.
When families travel from different places to gather for a reunion, choosing the right location helps create an experience everyone can enjoy. Midway provides gorgeous backdrops while still allowing the focus to stay on the relationships being documented.
That’s why I love Midway Utah family reunion photos. Whether you’re celebrating grandparents, welcoming a new baby, marking an anniversary, or simply taking advantage of having everyone together, this area offers a timeless setting for photographs that will be treasured for years.
Why Family Reunions Are the Perfect Time for Photos
Coordinating a large family can be challenging.
Different schedules, different states, and busy seasons of life often make it difficult to get everyone together. That’s why family reunions are one of the best opportunities to schedule professional portraits.
When everyone is already gathered in one place, you have a rare chance to capture every generation together.
Parents with their children.
Grandparents with grandchildren.
Cousins growing up together.
New babies meeting extended family for the first time.
Those relationships are constantly changing, and photographs allow you to freeze this exact season of life.
Celebrating New Generations
There is something especially special about photographing a family welcoming a new baby.
A new child doesn’t just change the parents’ lives—they create a new chapter for the entire family.
Grandparents become grandparents.
Cousins become older role models.
Siblings become aunts and uncles.
The family story expands.
During the Keoppel family’s session, it was clear how loved this new little boy already was. Seeing his family surround him with so much care and excitement was a beautiful reminder that photographs preserve much more than appearances.
They preserve belonging.
The Moments Between the Poses Matter Most
When families come together for photos, the posed portraits are important, but some of my favorite images are the ones that happen naturally.
A cousin gently interacting with a baby.
A grandparent’s expression while holding a grandchild.
The laughter that happens when everyone is together.
Those moments can’t be forced, and they are often the photographs families treasure the most.
My goal during every family session is to create space for those genuine connections to happen.
Creating Family Memories That Last
Photographing the Keoppel family was such a joy because their love for one another was obvious in every interaction. From celebrating a new baby to enjoying time together during their reunion, this session captured such a special chapter in their family’s story.
As a photographer serving Midway, Heber Valley, Park City, and surrounding Utah communities, I love helping families document the moments that bring everyone together.
If you’re planning Midway Utah family reunion photos, whether for a vacation, reunion, milestone celebration, or simply because everyone will finally be together, I’d love to help you create images that preserve the people who matter most.
