Millcreek Extended Family Photography | A Backyard Celebration After “I Do”

Millcreek Extended Family Photography | A Backyard Celebration After “I Do”

Millcreek extended family photography sessions don’t get much sweeter than this one with Janis and Bruce. Just one day after their wedding, they gathered their entire blended family for a relaxed backyard celebration at Janis’s son’s home in the Millcreek area. And let me tell you—it was the most beautiful blend of love, laughter, and new beginnings.

This wasn’t just any family photo session. It was a thoughtful celebration of two families coming together, and the energy was full of joy. After years of dating and finally tying the knot, Janis and Bruce wanted to take advantage of having all their loved ones in one place. And what better way to commemorate the start of their new chapter than with updated family portraits?

Janis’s son had been preparing for this moment for months. He worked tirelessly on his backyard to create the perfect space to host this post-wedding gathering. Every detail was so intentional—from the landscaping to the layout—and it really created the perfect setting for family photos.

A Day for Facing Fears While Having Fun

We laughed, we celebrated, and yes—I even conquered one of my biggest fears for this shoot. To capture the large group photo, I climbed up on the roof to get the best angle. 😅 Totally worth it. Seeing all those smiling faces gathered below, united in love and celebration, was such a powerful moment. Sometimes, you just have to do whatever it takes to get the shot!

There’s something really meaningful about photographing extended families. It’s a beautiful reminder of the legacies we’re building. Generations come together, kids play in the background, grandparents smile proudly, and parents soak in the moment. For Janis and Bruce, this was more than just a photo session—it was a celebration of the people who supported their love story and will continue to walk beside them in this next chapter.

The Millcreek area is such a perfect backdrop for extended family sessions like this one. From private backyards to mountain views just a few minutes away, there’s something so peaceful and personal about shooting in a location that already means something to the family.

I’m so grateful I got to be a part of this day and capture memories that this family will treasure forever. These photos aren’t just for today—they’re for anniversaries, family gatherings, and the generations still to come.
