This Ogden Botanical Gardens family photos session for the Palmer family was pure chaos in the very best way. From the second we started, everyone was laughing, teasing each other, and fully leaning into the fun together. Honestly, sessions like this are my favorite because you can instantly feel how much the family genuinely loves being around each other.
They are the cutest Brady Bunch-style family, and the energy they brought into the session made every photo feel so full of life.
One of my favorite details from this shoot was that they have a signature family pose they recreate every single year. I absolutely love traditions like that because the photos become even more meaningful over time. Watching kids grow, relationships change, and families evolve while keeping one consistent pose every year is honestly such a special thing to document.

Ogden Botanical Gardens Family Photos During Spring Bloom Season
We photographed this session at the Ogden Botanical Gardens, and we truly caught it at the perfect time. Early spring in Northern Utah can be unpredictable, but this evening gave us the prettiest blooming trees, fresh greenery, and soft light throughout the gardens.
The location worked especially well for this family because it matched their joyful energy perfectly. There were so many beautiful little pathways, flowering branches, and open areas for the kids to move around naturally instead of feeling stuck in stiff poses.
I love photographing families at the Ogden Botanical Gardens because it offers so much variety while still keeping everything close together. Families from Ogden, Layton, Farmington, and surrounding Northern Utah areas love this location for spring sessions because it feels lush and colorful without needing to drive deep into the mountains.
For the Palmer family, the softer spring colors added so much warmth to the final gallery. Everything felt bright, playful, and connected.

Why playful family sessions often create the best photos
One thing I always tell families is that perfect behavior is not the goal during sessions. Connection matters so much more.
The Palmer family completely embraced that mindset, and honestly, that’s why these images worked so well. The kids laughed constantly, everyone interacted naturally, and the whole session felt more like spending time together than standing around posing for photos.
Some of my favorite moments happened between the planned shots. A sibling joke, parents laughing at the chaos, kids running ahead on the garden paths — those are the images that usually end up meaning the most years later.
I photograph family sessions throughout Ogden, Kaysville, Layton, and surrounding Davis and Weber County areas, and spring sessions continue to be some of my favorites because Northern Utah blooms so beautifully this time of year.
This session felt like such a perfect reminder that family photos do not need to feel stiff or overly serious to feel meaningful. Sometimes the most beautiful galleries come from families simply enjoying each other.
I absolutely loved photographing these Ogden Botanical Gardens family photos for the Palmer family and documenting such a joyful season for them.
