After our trip to Washington the kids and I headed up to Oregon for the baptism/birthday weekend. Luke’s older brother, Cory, and his wife, Rachel, live in Salem. Their middle child, Tessa, turned eight and was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Luke flew in and met us in Oregon for the festivities. On Friday, we took a beautiful drive to the Tillamook Cheese Factory where we ate the most amazing cheeses and ice cream cones. It was amazing to see the assembly lines. So much involved in cutting, packaging and tasting cheese. ;) On the way back home we stopped at a carousel mall and park. We did a little riding, some gift shop shopping and played on the park until dinner. We ended the night with food and games. A typical Maughan family vaca.
The next day was Tessa’s Big Day. First, she had a soccer game. Brody and Fischer had a small one on the sidelines with Fischer’s uncle Josh. After the soccer game, we headed to the church for the baptism. The talks, music and baptism was beautiful. Tessa beamed from ear to ear the rest of the day. We had a delicious lunch then headed to the pumpkin patch/corn maze. On the way to there it started raining extremely hard so we made a quick detour and ended up going bowling. After bowling we had the most delicious pizza and lemonade at Mod Pizza. We came back to the house and played the most amazing game (Concept), had a recycling conference and mole diagnosis until we were almost asleep in our chairs. It was a fantastic weekend in Salem.
