A successful session starts with positive communications, clear expectations, and proper preparation. Remember, you are the expert. You take family photos all the time, but this is a special occasion for our clients. This might be their annual family photo or their first photo session ever. Regardless, they are full of questions. If you provide the answers to those questions without even being asked, you are one step ahead. Your clients will not only have clear expectations about their session, but all their common concerns are put at ease.
I love to set clear expectations in several ways — their initial email, their consult and THIS welcome guide. A week or two before their session, I send a date reminder/mini welcome guide with the following information.
· Date & Location
· What to Wear
· How to Prepare
· What to Expect
My welcome guide is a 5×5 tri-fold card that was designed in InDesign and is printed at Millers. For less than $2 per client, I send out a BEAUTIFUL welcome guide reminder with all the must-know details. It includes three panels full of what to wear, how to prepare, what to expect and then a back side with contact and date/location information. I only send these to my FULL session families and my a la carte ENGAGEMENT sessions that don’t receive our full bride magazine.
