Preston Idaho Bridal Photos: Why Formal Wedding Portraits Are Worth Scheduling Before Your Wedding Day

As a wedding photographer, I love wedding days. The excitement, the emotions, and the celebration are hard to beat. But if I’m being honest, some of my favorite images often happen before the wedding day during formal portraits.

Alexis and Juan’s Preston Idaho bridal photos are the perfect example of why I encourage couples to schedule a dedicated formal session whenever possible. Without the pressure of a wedding timeline, couples can slow down, enjoy the experience, and focus on each other.

Those relaxed moments almost always lead to some of my favorite images.

Why I Love Preston Idaho Bridal Photos

Preston offers so many beautiful locations for wedding portraits. Between the open fields, mountain views, rolling hills, and peaceful country roads, it’s easy to create images that feel timeless and romantic.

One thing I love about photographing couples in Preston is the variety. We can create elegant portraits with wide scenic views and then move to more intimate locations that feel quiet and personal.

The landscape never competes with the couple. Instead, it helps tell their story.

That’s exactly what I look for when planning bridal sessions.

Formal Sessions Create a More Relaxed Wedding Day

Many couples worry about fitting all of their portraits into the wedding day timeline.

A formal session solves that problem.

When bridal portraits happen before the wedding, couples can spend more time with family and guests on the actual wedding day. They don’t have to feel rushed from one location to the next.

Instead, they can enjoy the celebration knowing many of their most important portraits are already finished.

That’s one of the biggest reasons I recommend formal sessions whenever possible.

What to Wear for Bridal Portraits

Formal sessions give couples a chance to see everything come together before the wedding.

The dress.

The suit.

The shoes.

The flowers.

The little details you’ve spent months planning.

Many couples also use the experience as a trial run for wedding hair and makeup. This helps them feel even more confident when the wedding day arrives.

It’s a great way to make sure everything feels exactly right.

Why These Photos Become Some of Your Favorites

Wedding days move quickly.

Formal sessions allow couples to slow down and be fully present with each other.

There’s time to laugh, talk, and enjoy the excitement of being engaged without worrying about a schedule.

Those genuine interactions create photographs that feel natural and authentic.

Years later, those are often the images couples return to again and again.

Planning Your Own Bridal Session

As a photographer serving Preston, Franklin County, Cache Valley, and surrounding areas, I love helping couples find locations that fit their personalities and wedding vision.

Whether you love mountain views, open fields, or classic countryside scenery, there are so many beautiful options throughout Southern Idaho and Northern Utah.

If you’re planning a wedding and considering Preston Idaho bridal photos, I’d love to help create a formal session that feels relaxed, meaningful, and completely tailored to your story.

Ready to start planning your wedding photography experience? I’d love to help you create images you’ll treasure long after the wedding day is over.
